About College

Welcome into the shade of Fort of Purandar, the jubilant partner in the realization of the divine dream of ‘Hindavi Swarajya’ by Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj! Wecome to Jejuri, the holy and golden city of Lord Khandoba, one of the most popular pastoral deities in Maharashtra! Welcome to the Holkar Wada and the Tamarind Grove, built and planted 300 years ago by great Maratha lady ruler, Devi Ahilyabai Holkar, and to Sharadchandraji Pawar College, Jejuri, revering this proud inheritance

Sharadchandraji Pawar College, Jejuri was established on 15th June 1991 in ‘Ahilyabai Holkar Wada’. The idea of the college was conceived in the mind of Honrable Sharadchandraji Pawar and was wrought under the spirit of Shri. Vijay Kolte. Overcoming all the odds, college received the grant in 1997-98. Experts from different fields, eminent faculty, librarian, administrative staff, non-teaching staff and students have greatly contributed in the progress and development of this college. Thus the seed sown in 1991 turned into a seedling.

Education is an important element to bring about change in society. Every individual without being literate and well-cultured, society cannot progress. Knowing the necessity of education, the facility of higher education is made available in Jejuri for the youth of this vicinity. It becomes very difficult for poor farmers and farm laborers’ children in Purandar taluka to go to Pune, Mumbai or some other well known cities for higher education. Therefore Acharya Atre Vikas Pratishthan, Purandar entered in the education field.

Every student enrolled in this college is given special attention. Clever students are greatly encouraged. Loan facility is provided to poor students. Apart from book knowledge, many other activities are also conducted. Workshops and contact sessions are conducted to hone the skills of students such as essay writing, elocution, rangoli, handwriting etc. Similarly, the various types of outdoor games are arranged to develop the mental, physical and psychological aspects of students to make them independent and happy living beings.

Now, the college is shifted in its own newly constructed building in the old tamarind orchid known as a ‘chinchbaugh’. The college has a beautiful and mind-blowing surrounding with 70 tamarind trees, a big lake behind it with 'Kadepathar' in front of it. Thus the college is draped with nature's beauty and settled in the peaceful atmosphere, amidst shay lush greenery. The large building, playground, well set-up library, disciplined and skilled students etc help the overall development of students. Acharya Atre Development Trust Purandar’s former president Honorable Shri. Sharadchandraji Pawar's blessings, the president, Shri.Vijayrao Kolte's guidance, the secretary, Shri Shantaram Poman’s implementation and the experienced leadership of principal and willing adherence of faculty members are the powerful pillars of the college.
